Freshwater Fly Fishing – Wyoming

World Angling is committed to connecting you with top-tier guides around the world.    We are proud to introduce  Freeflow Outfitters , a premiere guide service specializing in backcountry fly fishing adventure trips in southeast and central Wyoming.

Freeflow Outfitters founder and head guide, Andrew O’Neill, moved to Wyoming years ago to attend the University of Wyoming. During his education, Andrew quickly became obsessed with the stunning beauty of the surrounding fisheries and the vast opportunities that seemed to be overlooked by anglers on their way to bigger-name rivers. Andrew has developed a deep passion for pristine wilderness and exploring wild backcountry fisheries, and it is his goal to bring that experience to all of his clients.

A wild brown trout from southeastern Wyoming

Trips are currently offered in the world-class Fremont Canyon located approximately 30 minutes southwest of Casper, Wyoming. This fishery has quickly gained status as “world-class” by all accounts due to the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding Canyon walls, trout populations of up to 1,500 fish per mile, and the ever-present chance at a true, trophy Rainbow Trout. The nature of this section river means that water temperatures stay consistent year-round, aquatic life is abundant, and fish populations – as well as the fish themselves – are quite dense. In this Canyon, fish grow big, take flies aggressively, and fight hard – combine that with scenic Canyon walls towering around you, and this makes for a truly unforgettable fly fishing experience.

Fremont Canyon is divided into two main, fishable sections: the Canyon, and Cardwell Access area. We fish both of these sections depending on weather conditions, insect activity, and angler ability and preference. The Cardwell Access area is a meadow section with easy access, making for a less strenuous day of fishing. For the more ambitious angler, Canyon access can be difficult in places, but the fishing is often well worth the effort. We rate access difficulty of Fremont Canyon at Level 1-3; ranging from easy meadow hiking to making steeper ascents and descents in rugged terrain. Please refer to the difficulty rating system below and give us a call to find out which Fremont Canyon adventure is right for you!
